Mark 12:41‭-‬44 NIV
Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents. Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.”

English Version

The true offering in the sight of the Lord is as an act of Worship. It isn’t merely about the monetary amount but rather the value and the attitude of the person who gives the offering.

In the verses above it talks about rich people who gave large amounts of money as an offering and a widow who gave only a few cents worth which was all she had left. While it seems like the rich man has given more in value, this is not so as what the Widow offered is her entire livelihood. She gave all the money she had remaining that day, money that she needed for food and other necessities for living, yet she offered this all to the lord. Through her offering and sacrifice she showed how much she valued the house of the Lord.
Even if the amount she gave was very small, she gave all she had. The rich gave large sums of money, however it didn’t hurt them as it was given out of abundance, unlike the widow they did not need to fast on that day to give, because they still had so much compared to the widow who was left with nothing.

Through the offering we give we show how much we value our God, His church and all he has done for us. The offering we give is a part of worship to the Lord.

The amount we pay for a hotel or restaurant determines how much we value it as we are willing to give that much.
Like a hotel or restaurant which satisfies its customers needs through their services.
The church is where we can satisfy our spiritual needs and experience comfort , security, peace and Joy. That is why we as believers can give more for of the house of the Lord.

The Widow valued God and His house more than worldly things and even her own livelihood, therefore she is able to fast, giving all she had for that day.
